Sight Words
It is our goal for your child to be able to read all of the pri-primer, primer, first and second grade words by the end of the school year. Some activities are flashcards, place the words on post-it notes around the house (i.e. read them before you brush your teeth every morning and night) or do a word hunt in their favorite book. Start with the first list and move on when they know them. Knowing these words automatically will increase their reading fluency. This link goes to a great website that has all of the lists.

The Magic E Song
Our phonics focus has been on CVCe patterns (consonant, vowel, consonant, e). We also call this the "Magic e". The magic e changes the vowel to say its name. PLEASE continue to read every night. The books we send home focus on the phonics skills we are teaching in school. Keep those books and keep reading them.
Touch Point Money
We have been working hard on counting money in math. We have taught or reviewed the Touch Point money strategy. This is a quick video on how to use it. Over time kids can move away from actually making the dots on a worksheet to just picturing them in their head as they count a group of coins.
